WAUWAU

Wauwau (わうわう), also known as Ouni (苧うに), is a yōkai similar in features and behavior to yamamba (or yama-uba), a female with demon-like facial features, blackened teeth, and long hair covering her body. Some local legends say that she will appear to women who are weaving or spinning thread, offer to help, spin at a supernatural pace, then disappear mysteriously. –Jack Stoneman
